Cabbage Soup Diet

It’s very easy to describe the cabbage soup diet, it’s a FAKE. Anything else is just a lot of noise. But in case you’re curious here is some more information.

The inventor of the cabbage soup diet isn’t known. It was one of the diets faxed from machine to machine in the early 1980’s. There were many names for the diet, sometimes a well-known institution such as St. Jude’s diet. Needless to say, the diet has no relation to any of the institutions, nations, or people used in these names.

The cabbage soup diet calls for drinking nothing but water or unsweetened fruit juice on days when juice is allowed. In general this is the diet.

Day one — cabbage soup and any fruit except bananas.

Day two — cabbage soup, vegetables  which could be half of a baked potato without butter.

Day three — add vegetables and fruit to the daily cabbage soup, but no bananas or potato.

Day four — cabbage soup 8 bananas and skimmed milk.

Day five — cabbage soup, six tomatoes and up to 20 ounces of beef.

Day six — cabbage soup, unlimited beef, and any vegetables except potatoes.

Day seven — unsweetened fruit juice, vegetables except potatoes, brown rice, and of course our friend cabbage soup.

According to the cabbage soup diet you could lose 10 pounds in just a week. Unfortunately that would be 10 pounds in water weight. Nutritionists agree that it’s just not possible to lose 10 pounds of fat in only one week. What the cabbage soup diet could accomplish in a week is to make someone sick from eating poorly.

The other problem with the cabbage soup diet is that it’s a very difficult diet to follow. Not because it’s too complicated, but rather because seven days of cabbage soup becomes monotonous. It was common for people to last only a couple of days before quitting. There was even an attempt to spice up the cabbage soup diet with new recipes, but that failed.

In general nothing quite as extreme as the cabbage soup diet is needed to lose weight. Losing weight is a simple matter of eating less, and becoming more active.
