why do people gain the weight back after fad diets?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

does it have anything to do with the fact that the person goes back to eating the same way and the same level of exercise?

if a person were to lose a lot a weight with a fad diet, then ate right and exercised consistently, would they still gain it back?

{question}

I’d like to take this opportunity to speak out against fad diets. Sadly, a lot of my fellow Youtubers have been duped into following these unhealthy ways of losing weight. Since I consider everyone who struggles with weightloss to be my brothers and sisters, I must speak out in defense of my brothers and sisters! Please don’t fall into the fad diet trap! The best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat healthy food. Tonight I’d like to talk about the Master Cleanse and the Simeons Diet. What do you think about fad diets?

Monday, February 15th, 2010

In just about a report on diet, IM, and the search for opinions of people on the matter. And no fear in asking you not to cheat or do something, just ask to what other people think. Thank you very much! Do not worry, do not ask in, because the are interested in a fad diet, in something against them. I dont really like it, I think, a bad way to lose weight. But in listening to both sides.

3 Ways to Spot Dangerous Fad Diet

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Image taken on by .
I have had enough of dangerous fad diets. And with ten years of experience helping individuals lose weight fast, I know firsthand how susceptible you can be to false claims from dangerous fad diets. I am here to educate everyone worldwide how to instantly recognize the three keys to alert them to a dangerous fad diet.
It should be a criminal offense in regards to what some of the fad diets do to your metabolism. Yes, they help you lose weight fast, initially. But they can absolutely destroy a person’s metabolism and cause them to gain much more weight back.
I believe in a much more sensible approach to help youlose weight fast. To lose weight fat you don’t need to follow a fad diet. You can achieve rapid fat loss in a very safe and healthy manner when the correct approach is taken.
The following are my top three keys for instantly recognizing a dangerous fad diet:
One Ingredient Diets:
Any diet that preaches eating only one ingredient – such as ice cream or grapefruit – for an extended period of time can be classified immediately as a dangerous fad diet. There are dozens of these types of diets on the market. Another problem with a fad diet is that fad diets are generally low on overall calories and deficient of important nutrients needed for weight loss. What many fad diets do is focus on 1 nutrient as the potential key to weight loss and in reality all they are doing is severely restricting your calories to see weight loss. Once you have met your weight loss goal and are no longer following the fad diet where do you go from there? Most people revert back to their old ways of eating and the weight comes right back on. Many times the weight gain is much worse than where you started.
Fasting:
Avoid any “lose weight fast” program that suggests you “fast” for an extended period of time. Very simply, not eating will wreak havoc on your metabolism. If you are looking to lose weight fast then not eating is potentially the worst thing you can do. Fasting causes your body to increase a hormone called lipoprotein lipase. Many call this a “starvation” hormone because when this hormone is elevated your body will adjust how it uses the calories you eat. Your body will start to store more of the calories you eat as fat calories when this hormone is elevated. It does this to protect itself and to make sure it has enough calories in reserve when it needs them. Fad diets that encourage you to fast or severely restrict calories will generally cause an increase in this “starvation” hormone.
Miraculous Claims:
Use your common sense when investigating a fad diet. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Please don’t fall for the amazing claims of miraculous weight loss. Weight loss isn’t hard, but it does take some effort and work. I recommend enlisting the advice of a qualified nutritionist or health professional when attempting to lose weight fast.

I think that should be people who are struggling with their weight, consider removing the right way to fall, rather than for diets, such as a diet pizza. God bless all and happy holidays.

The Real Dangers of Fad Dieting

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Image taken on by .
There are many fad diets to choose from. Most of them reel you in with the promise of quick weight loss. We lose are rational minds and start a two day diet to lose ten pounds. This leaves us disappointed and probably not feeling very well after the two days. We need to start looking at the dangers of fad dieting. If you really lost ten pounds you would be dehydrated, have an electrolyte imbalance and mineral deficiencies. The promises of fad diets sound to good to be true because they are.
The American Heart Association (AHA) studied fad dieting and came up with some dangers of fad dieting. The AHA says fad dieting violates the rules of good nutrition. Good nutrition is eating a balance of different kinds of food. The AHA goes on to say there are no Super Foods that will take off the weight. They maintain that people should eat a variety of foods from all the food groups. The AHA also says fad dieting takes the best part of eating away. That is, eating the food. You should like what you eat and feel satisfied.
The dangers of fad dieting are they may lead someone to binge. The dieter gets so bored with the food that he or she has a big slip. Some people might binge and purge. Purging is an attempt to get rid of the food you ate by vomiting or use of laxatives. The purger may not eat anything for a few days to compensate for their binge. All of these encompass part of the dangers of fad dieting.
According to the AHA, around 1977, there was a protein diet which use consisted of digested collagen with additives. This diet has been thought to cause 60 deaths over the years. This was over thirty years ago and the dangers of fad dieting are just as strong today.
The AHA suggests that you forget about fad diets and eat a balanced meal to keep your body at a healthy weight. The AHA also has its own healthy way to lose weight diet program, to lose weight sensibly.
The dangers of fad dieting are that they do not teach you the way to eat to deep the weight off. Dieters do not learn healthy diets for long term weight management. It can be a whole lifestyle change for some people.
Another reason dieters should look before they leap is that fad diets can lead to depression. Depression is a mental illness that may need to be treated by professionals.
The fad diet may actually do what it promises losing weight fast; but the dieter returns to their regular weight just as quickly. The weight lost in fad diets is from water in our body, not fat. Your body will naturally return to a state that is out of dehydration.
One of the dangers of fad diets can be that children and teens may try them. A web site called Kid Health, states that one out of every three children are overweight or obese. Teens report that they feel a lot of shame for, being over weight. It leads them to feel bad about themselves. Children need good balanced nutrition to function. A fad diet may affect his so her performance in school. A fad diet may leave the child feeling weak because his electrolytes are out of balance. Finally, the dangers of fad dieting is if the child persists on the diet it can stunt this or her growth. There are healthy ways to lose weight with a balanced diet. Children can learn how to eat a well balanced diet for their lifetime.

Weight Loss – are Fad Diets Any Good? Top 3 Reasons Why You Should be Wary of Fad Diets

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Image taken on 2009-10-24 21:01:53 by j.pauley.
For anyone who is not sure, a fad diet is one that promises quick weight loss and is usually popular for a short amount of time. So, that brings on the question, ‘Should you use a fad diet for the purpose of losing weight’?

Fad diets are tempting to choose because they claim to offer a quick weight loss solution. We live in an ‘instant’ world where we want everything as fast as possible. However, we tend to forget that the weight gain was not instant. Would you be able to resist an offer that claims to melt away all your fat within just a few weeks? I know you cannot! People often fall for such offers only to realize that they have been scammed.

What will usually happen with fad diets is that you will lose a few pounds very quickly but, and this is a big BUT, you will gain back all those ‘lost pounds’ shortly! That’s one of the things that they don’t tell you. There are other side affects that you could suffer from by choosing fad diets! Prolonged use of fad diets may even cause untimely death!

Here are three reasons why fad diets fail:

1. Fad diets don’t necessarily change your bad eating habits:

Weight loss is only possible when you follow a healthy diet and also change your overall lifestyle habits. Instead of sitting in front of the TV for hours, you need to get up and move around. Instead of eating chocolate as if it’s going out of fashion you need to eat healthy, nutritional foods with as much variety as possible.

Bad eating habits are what made you put on extra weight in the first place so fad diets aren’t going to change those bad habits. That’s why any results you see are only going to be short-lived!

2. Fad diets are unnatural diets:

Most fad diets suggest that you follow unnatural meal plans. They tend to ask you to survive only one fruit juice and cabbages, or to drastically reduce your food intake, or starve for long periods of time – also known as crash dieting.

Some of them require you to survive on only one type of food such as protein-rich foods. By doing this you create an imbalance in your body’s nutrient equilibrium, with one nutrient being in excess and the other in deficit! Fad diets affect your health severely especially if you use them for a prolonged period of time. Depression, headaches, digestion problems such as constipation, impotence, dehydration, etc. , are some of the maladies that may result from the use of fad diets. In extreme cases of prolonged use of fad diets, premature death may occur. However, many people quit their diet programs much before death could happen!
