The Sacred Heart Diet Day 1 (aka diet cabbage soup)

WELCOME TO DAY 1 of the Sacred Heart diet is a hard diet, but persevere! Menu: Eat only fruit, all fruits you want except bananas. Drink unsweetened tea, black coffee, cranberry juice and water. Eat as much soup as you want. Tips: Drink water or try blending the fruit with ice cream! Sacred Heart Soup Diet Recipe Ingredients: 1 – 46 oz can juice 1 to 14 V8. 5 oz can diced tomatoes 6 medium stalks of celery (about 1 cup) 1 / 2 medium cabbage, red or green (approx. 6 cups) 1 medium onion (about 1 cup) (Lillie prefers the sweet onions such as Vidalia) 6 medium carrots (or pre-slices to equal 1 1 / 2 cups) 2 medium green peppers (about 2 cups) (red and / or yellow can also be used) 1 envelope of Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix 1 – 14 oz can Lower Swanson sodium beef broth 1 Beef bouillon cubes 1 tsp or packaging. Garlic powder 1 / 2 tsp. black pepper. . . or to taste Preparation: Cut and dice vegetables. Place all ingredients in a large container reserves. Add water if necessary to bring liquids to almost twice the depth of the vegetables into the pot. Bring to a boil, and mix as needed. Cook over low heat for about 2 hours. . . or until all vegetables are soft. Other spices such as curry, parsley or other herbs or spices to your taste. You can substitute low-sodium V8 juice and the resulting Sodium will be 321mg instead of 476mg per serving can be. This recipe makes about 18 to 1 cup servings
